From theater performer, to full-time busker and wanderer, festivals and cafés, Sam Ness has shared the stage with America, Styx, Night Ranger, Chris Barron (Spin Doctors), and many others. Mixing Traditional Folk/Americana roots with a new-age Alternative Singer/Songwriter feel, Sam Ness finds inspiration in the ancient cobblestone streets across the globe. Sometimes wild and dance oriented, other moments raw, emotional, and punctuated by moments of silence, Sam’s show changes every night. His percussive playing paired with an assortment of special effects including a loop system, have built a sound larger than most full bands. Sam has taken home a handful of Madison Area Music Awards including Male Vocalist of the Year (2019, 2020, 2021), Alternative Album of the Year (Whispered on the Wind 2018), Madison Area Breakthrough Artist Second Runner up (2017), Cover Song of the Year (Bonnie Raitt’s I Can’t Make You Love Me 2020), Unique Performer of the Year (2021).
Sam’s new album, City Lights and Smoke, is a story of the road. It’s the story of an introvert playing over a thousand shows across many countries, traveling to explore not only external places but the internal self. It’s sticking out your thumb in hope, it’s fumbling for a light switch in the dark. It’s the story of looking back at one’s self across the stage lights, back alley puddles, and rear view mirrors. It’s repair shop coffee. It’s City Lights and Smoke.

The star is burning bright for Old Soul Society and only appears to be getting brighter with the release of their debut album “The Farmhouse Sessions” pre-Covid, the official bootleg release of “A Live One” in early 2022 and their follow up studio album that is scheduled for release in fall 2022.
COREY MATHEW HART
From the time Corey Mathew Hart started singing at a young age, his voice has amazed audiences. “The human voice is such a wonderfully complex instrument. So often, words can fail to portray the whole meaning or idea you are trying to get across, but in song you can convey more emotion and add more depth and dimension to the written word,” says Hart. And he does just that with a voice and songs that earned Hart two MAMAs (Madison Area Music Association awards) in 2011, one for best male vocalist and the other for best Folk/Americana album.
Most recently, Corey won the Overture Rising Stars competition in 2014 and has been selected as a finalist in the 2015 NewSong songwriting competition. In recent years, Hart has performed as a member of The Mascot Theory, as well as other Madison area musicians. His current band, Lost Lakes, is turning heads both locally and nationally.
“Corey Mathew Hart is one of the Midwest’s most gifted songwriters” — The Isthmus
